இதற்கு பதிலளித்த மேயர் பிரியா, “தூய்மைப் பணியை தனி யாருக்கு கொடுப்பது அரசின் கொள்கை முடிவு. தற்போது பணி யில் இருக்கும் நிரந்தர தூய்மைப் பணியாளர்கள் பிற மண்டலங் களுக்கு பணிமாறுதல் செய்யப்படு வார்கள். என்யுஎல்எம் தொழி லாளர்களை ஒப்பந்தம் எடுக்கும் நிறுவனமே பணிக்கு எடுத்துக் கொள்ளும். இதனால் தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு பாதிப்பு இல்லை” என்றார்.
மேயரின் பதிலை ஏற்க மறுத்து சிபிஎம் உறுப்பினர்கள் ஆர்.ஜெயராமன், ப.விமலா, எம்.சரஸ்வதி, ஆ.பிரியதர்ஷினி உள்ளிட்டோர் எழுந்து நின்று பேசினர். அப்போது குறுக்கிட்ட ஆணையர் ஜெ.ராதாகிருஷ்ணன், “கருத்துக்கேட்பு கூட்டத்தில் வந்த கருத்துக்கள், உறுப்பினர்களின் ஆட்சேபணைகள் ஆகியவை அரசின் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்படும்” என்றார். இவற்றை ஏற்க மறுத்து சிபிஎம் உறுப்பினர்கள் வெளிநடப்பு செய்தனர்.
அப்போது செய்தியாளர்களிடம் பேசிய ஆர்.ஜெயராமன், “6 ஆயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட நிரந்தர துப்புரவு ஊழியர்கள் பணிபுரிந்த மாநகராட்சியில் தற்போது 2 ஆயிரம் பேர்தான் உள்ளனர். துப்புரவு பணி தனியார்மயமானால் புதிய பணியிடங்கள் உருவாகாது. ஒரு நிரந்தர ஊழியரின் ஊதியத்தை எடுத்து 5 பேருக்கு பிரித்து கொடுக்கும் தனியார்மயம் தேவைதானா? ஒப்பந்த ஊழியர்களையும் பணிநிரந்தரம் செய்ய மறுக்கின்றனர். தமிழக அரசின் தேர்தல் வாக்குறுதிப்படி துப்புரவு பணியை தனியாருக்கு கொடுக்கக் கூடாது என்று வலியுறுத்தி வெளிநடப்பு செய்தோம்” என்றார்.
முன்னதாக மன்ற கூட்டத்திற்கு வருகை தந்த மேயர், துணை மேயர், மண்டலக்குழுத் தலை வர்கள், கவுன்சிலர்களிடம் தனியார்மயத்தை கைவிட வலியுறுத்தி சென்னை மாநகராட்சி செங்கொடி சங்க (சிஐடியு) தலைவர்கள் மனுக்களை அளித்தனர். இதன்பிறகு ரிப்பன் மாளிகை வளாகத்தில் ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடத்தினர்.
