சென்னை அண்ணா மேம்பாலம் அருகே, கதீட்ரல் சாலையில் தமிழ்நாடு அரசு தோட்டக்கலைத் துறைக்கு சொந்தமான நிலம் 23 ஏக்கர் இருந்தது. கடந்த 1910ஆம் ஆண்டு தோட்டக்கலை சங்கத்திற்காக தமிழ்நாடு அரசு இந்த இடத்தை வழங்கியது.
காலப்போக்கில் தோட்டக்கலை சங்கம் தனி நபர் வசம் சென்று, அந்த நிலம் தனிநபர் ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் சென்று விட்டது. இதை அறிந்த அப்போதைய முன்னாள் முதல்வர் முத்தமிழறிஞர் கலைஞர் அவர்களால் கடந்த 1989ஆம் ஆண்டு 17 ஏக்கர் நிலத்தை சட்டப்படி மீட்டெடுத்தார். அதற்கு பிறகு மீட்கபட்ட இடத்தில் 2009ஆம் ஆண்டு செம்மொழி பூங்கா உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.
மீதமுள்ள நிலத்தை தோட்டக்கலை கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி என்ற தனிநபர் இந்த இடத்திற்கு பட்டா பெற்று அவர் ஆக்கிரமிப்பு செய்து வைத்திருந்தார். அதற்கு பிறகு தமிழ்நாடு முதலமைச்சர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் தொடர் சட்டப்போராட்டத்தால், மீதமுள்ள 5 ஏக்கர் 18 கிரவுண்ட் 1683 சதுர அடி நிலம் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் மற்றும் உச்சநீதிமன்றம் வரை சென்று மீட்டெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மாண்பமை பொருந்திய உச்சநீதிமன்ற உத்தரவின்படி நில நிர்வாக ஆணையரால் விசாரணை செய்யப்பட்டு பிறப்பிக்கப்ட்ட உத்தரவினை தொடர்ந்து, சென்னை மாவட்டம், மயிலாப்பூர் வட்டம், கதீட்ரல் சாலையில் உள்ள 5 ஏக்கர் 18 கிரவுண்ட் 1683 சதுரஅடி சர்க்கார் புறம் போக்கு என வகைப்பாடு கொண்ட நிலம் 05.06.2023 அன்று அரசு வசம் மீட்டெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதன் தற்போதை சந்தை மதிப்பு சுமார் ரூ.1000 கோடி என்பது குறிப்பிடதக்கது. இந்த இடம் முழுவதுமாக அரசு கையகப்படுத்தி சீல் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதுபோன்று தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளிலும் உள்ள ஆக்கிரமிப்பு செய்யப்பட்ட அரசு நிலங்கள் மீட்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. மேலும் ஆக்கிரமிப்பு செய்யப்பட்ட அரசு நிலங்கள் அனைத்தும் வருவாய்துறை மூலம் மீட்டெடுக்க தொடர்ந்து நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும்.
இவ்வாறு வருவாய் மற்றும் பேரிடர் மேலாண்மைத்துறை கே.கே.எஸ்.எஸ்.ஆர்.ராமச்சந்திரன் தெரிவித்தார்.
