இந்திய விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்று 3259 நாட்கள் சிறைவாசம் புகுந்து விடுதலை பெற்றபிறகு 17 ஆண்டுகாலம் இந்தியாவின் பிரதமராக இருந்து, நவீன இந்தியாவிற்கு அடித்தளமிட்;ட முதல் பிரதமர் பண்டித ஜவஹர்லால் நேரு வாழ்ந்த இல்லம் தான் தீன்மூர்த்தி பவன். 1964 மே 27 அன்று மறையும் வரை 16 ஆண்டுகள் இந்த இல்லத்தில் தான் நேரு வாழ்ந்தார். அவரது மறைவிற்கு பிறகு அவரது 75-வது பிறந்தநாளில் 1966 இல் நவம்பர் 14 அன்று அன்றைய குடியரசுத் தலைவர் எஸ். ராதாகிருஷ்ணன், நேரு நினைவு அருங்காட்சியகம் மற்றும் நூலகத்தை நாட்டுக்கு அர்ப்பணித்தார்.
இந்த நூலகத்தில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஆராய்ச்சி மாணவர்கள், பத்திரிகையாளர்கள், எழுத்தாளர்கள் நாள்தோறும் பயன்படுத்துகிற வகையில் மிகமிக அற்புதமாக வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. அங்கே பல்வேறு நினைவு சொற்பொழிவுகள் நடத்துவதற்கு அரங்கம் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. இத்தகைய பயன்பாட்டை முடக்குவதற்கும், பண்டித நேருவின் புகழை சீர்குலைப்பதற்கும் அரசியல் காழ்ப்புணர்ச்சியுடன் நேருவின் புகழை மழுங்கடித்து விடலாம் என்ற நினைப்புடன் இத்தகைய இழிவான செயலை மோடி அரசு செய்திருக்கிறது.
இத்தகைய இழிவான செயலின் மூலம் நேருவின் புகழை குறைத்துவிடலாம் என்கிற பிரதமர் மோடியின் பெயர் தான் தரம் தாழ்ந்து விட்டது என்பதை எவரும் மறுக்க இயலாது. இந்தியாவையே கட்டமைத்த மாபெரும் தலைவரின் பெயரை மாற்றி கீழ்த்தரமாக செயல்படும் பா.ஜ.க. அரசை வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கிறேன்.
பண்டித நேருவின் பெயரில் உள்ள அருங்காட்சியகத்தையோ, நூலகத்தையோ உங்கள் தலைவர்களின் பெயரில் அமைக்க முடியாது. ஏனெனில் உங்களுக்கு இந்த நாட்டிற்கான தியாக வரலாறு கிடையாது. மாறாக, சாவர்க்கர் உள்ளிட்டவர்களின் துரோக வரலாறு தான் பா.ஜ.க.வுக்கு இருக்கிறது.
அதனால் தியாக வரலாறு படைத்தவர்களின் நினைவுச் சின்னங்களை அழிக்கிற முயற்சியில் பா.ஜ.க. ஈடுபட்டிருக்கிறது. இத்தகைய முயற்சிகளின் மூலம் நவீன இந்தியாவின் சிற்பியாக அழைக்கப்பட்ட பண்டித நேருவின் புகழை ஆயிரம் மோடிகள் வந்தாலும் அழிக்க முடியாது என்பதை உறுதியாக தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.
