கடந்த 80 நாட்களாக மணிப்பூர் பற்றி எரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது. நாள்தோறும் அப்பாவி இளம் பெண்கள் துப்பாக்கி முனையில் நிர்வாணப்படுத்தி பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்யப்படுகிறார்கள். இதுவரை சுதந்திர இந்தியா காணாத பாலியல் கூட்டுப் பலாத்காரம் மணிப்பூர் சகோதரிகளுக்கு எதிராக நிகழ்ந்து வருகிறது. இதை சமூக ஊடகங்களில் பார்க்கிற நாட்டு மக்கள் எதிர்கொள்கிற மனவேதனைக்கும், மன உளைச்சலுக்கும் அளவே இருக்க முடியாது. மணிப்பூர் சகோதரிகளுக்காக நாடே இன்றைக்குக் கண்ணீர் வடிக்கிறது. இவர்களுக்குப் பாதுகாப்பு வழங்காத பிரதமர் மோடி ஆட்சிக்கு எதிராக எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் நம்பிக்கையில்லாத் தீர்மானம் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் எதைப் பற்றியும் கவலைப்படாமல் ரோம் நகரம் தீப்பற்றி எரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கிற போது நீரோ மன்னன் பிடில் வாசித்ததற்கு ஒப்பாக பிரதமர் மோடி வாய்மூடி மௌனியாக இருக்கிறார். மக்களால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட பிரதமர் மோடி பாராளுமன்றத்தில் பதில் சொல்லத் தயாராக இல்லை. ஜனநாயகத்தில் ஒரு சர்வாதிகாரியாக இருக்கிறார்.
