விசாரணையில், பிரியதர்ஷினியை கொன்றது விக்கிரவாண்டியை அடுத்த சித்தேரிப்பட்டு கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பூபாலன் மகன் அகிலன் (23) என்பது தெரியவந்தது. அவரை போலீசார் தேடி வந்தனர். அவர் சென்னையில் பதுங்கி இருப்பதும் தெரிய வந்தது. தனிப்படை போலீசார் அங்கு விரைந்து சென்று அகிலனை கைது செய்தனர். இவர் பேண்ட் வாத்திய குழுவில் டிரம்ஸ் வாசிக்கும் தொழில் செய்து வருகிறார். அவர் பிரியதர்ஷினியை கொலை செய்ததை ஒப்புக்கொண்டார்.
இந்த கொலைக்கு உடந்தையாக விக்கிரவாண்டியை அடுத்துள்ள கக்கனூர் கிராமம் கக்கன் வீதியில் வசிக்கும் ராஜாமணி மகன் சுரேஷ் குமார் (22) இருந்ததாக அகிலன் தெரிவித்தார். அவரையும் போலீசார் கைது செய்தனர். போலீசாரின் விசாரணையில் அகிலன் திடுக்கிடும் தகவல்களை தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
அகிலன் உறவினர் வீடு விழுப்புரத்தை அடுத்த கப்பூரில் உள்ளது. அதே போல பிரியதர்ஷினி உறவினர் வீடும் கப்பூரில் உள்ளது. இவர்கள் இருவரும் அவரவர் உறவினர் வீட்டிற்கு வந்த போது பிரியதர்ஷினிக்கும், அகிலனுக்கும் காதல் ஏற்பட்டது. இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து அகிலன் அடிக்கடி கண்டமானடி கிராமத்திற்கு வந்துள்ளார். அங்கு ஊருக்கு ஒதுக்குபுறமான இடத்தில் பிரியதர்ஷினியுடன் உல்லாசமாக இருந்துள்ளார்.
இத்தகவல் அறிந்த பிரியதர்ஷினியின் பெற்றோர் கண்டித்துள்ளனர். இதனை பிரியதர்ஷினி கேட்காமல், தொடர்ந்து அகிலனுடன் பழகி வந்ததும் போலீசாரின் விசாரணையில் தெரியவந்தது. மேலும், தான் 3 மாத கர்ப்பிணியானதையும், தன்னை உடனடியாக திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ளும்படியும் அகிலனிடம் பிரியதர்ஷினி வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.
